Louis Buhl & Co. is pleased to present Beach Portfolio One, a print suite with New York-based artist Sam Friedman. Influenced by his “Beach Painting” series, Beach Portfolio One further demonstrates Friedman’s ability to move between representation and abstraction with seeming ease and spontaneity. Within the suite, Friedman continues his exploration of breaking down and rebuilding natural landscapes, something he achieves through his distinctive use of line, pattern, and bright color. A rare offering of six harmonized prints, the works shed a small glimpse into the infinite color and line combinations that Friedman is capable of imagining and executing. As with his previous endeavors, each print uses Friedman's unique hand-painted film technique, while referencing familiar and new colors along with identifiable imagery. Each print utilizes anywhere from 4-6 multi-colored split fountain layers to create the final composition. This labor-intensive technique further elevates this suite from a standard edition of prints.
