Louis Buhl & Co. is pleased to present our latest edition with Los Angeles-based artist Pedro Pedro, titled Bowls with Citrus, Flowers and Sliced Tomatoes 1, 2 & 3. Pedro views his paintings as parodies of the still-life form: He turns quotidian objects, such as a sock or a half-eaten sandwich, into spirited characters on his energetic canvases.
Dynamic and lively, Bowls with Citrus, Flowers and Sliced Tomatoes 1, 2 & 3 comprises three prints, each available individually as editions of eight prints. The edition paints three alike scenes complete with assorted ripe fruits and vegetables and complemented by delicate blush flowers spilling out of a rich blue bowl. The pieces are a contemporary interpretation of traditional still life painting—a signature of Pedro’s. Overall, the satisfying graphic precision, electric color, and seemingly supple, organic texture of every form across the works invite viewers into Pedro’s jumbled domestic universe.
