Louis Buhl & Co. is pleased to present a new edition with artist Jason REVOK, titled Instr/Ex_frame/drag_2_ultMa/Y/Or/Rd_4/22. Examining the question of authorship from start to finish, REVOK has developed systematic yet imperfect tools to carry out his vision and has created a number of unmistakable bodies of work. His bold, balanced, geometry is heightened by the personal and organic sleight of the human hand. Although performing with intention, REVOK never quite knows what the end result will be—this spontaneity and unpredictability a crucial element of his practice. 

Introducing a meditatively raw design, Instr/Ex_frame/drag_2_ultMa/Y/Or/Rd_4/22 is an extension of REVOK’s distinguished “Instrument Exercise” series. To create these works, the artist relies on a self-made tool that holds multiple cans of spray paint and allows them to mark a surface simultaneously. The device forges a system of lines that move in synergy. The results are at once rigorous in their machine-like symmetry, and flawed due to the nature of spray paint and the human hand.
