Louis Buhl & Co. is pleased to present OLARA, a new edition by Ojai-based artist Gary Lang. Lang’s work emerges from a meditative yet meticulous process of pattern evolution shaped by movement, instinct, and physics. With a highly individual and intuitive sense of color and pattern, Lang masterfully manipulates hues to infuse his work with spirit and energy.
This limited edition of just 10 pieces features a vibrant, textured print on an aluminum panel. Through a specialized printing process, the colorful rings reveal subtle three-dimensional layers at varying depths, creating a dynamic and immersive visual effect. As Lang explains: “The print is a succession of contrast and chance that amplify energy and finesse unity.”
The process of reinterpreting familiar hues and patterns in a new context was an enlightening journey for Lang, one that “opened up visual doors, and ocular spaces ‘ and expanded his optical universe. By exploring innovative juxtapositions of color, light, and form, Lang was able to push his artistic boundaries.
Each piece comes ready to install, equipped with a custom hanging bracket on the back. This design element supports Lang’s vision of creating a work that bridges the realms of painting and three-dimensional object.
